NAME: Josephine Nekesa Were aka Kajose aka Nexus
DESIGNATION: Chairman
WEIGHT THEN: 60 Kgs
WEIGHT NOW: 52.5 Kgs
AGE: 28 years old
Josephine has never played rugby in her life. However, had she played, she likes to think that she might have been the Machine hooker. She has supported Mean Machine since the mid nineties when her brother Mike played for the club. She stayed on with the club even after his departure as she studied at the University of Nairobi’s Parklands Law Campus. Josephine now works as a legal consultant and as a sports event planner with Pacific Sports Limited. She is the current tournament director for the Rugby Super Series, a tournament of the KRFU, as well as the team manager for the Kenya women’s rugby team.
Josephine looks forward to spawning an entire Machine back row in the next few years.

NAME: Auka Gecheo
DESIGNATION: Vice Chairman
WEIGHT THEN: 76 Kgs (Editor’s note: this is questionable)
WEIGHT NOW: 84 Kgs
AGE: 30 years old
Auka joined the Univeristy of Nairobi in September 1998, and became the Captain of the 2nd team the following year. He played only 3 games for Ninjas, alongside Arigi a long time serving Ninja, before being elevated to the first XV after one Victor Gachangi had to go to another wedding. A brilliant player, an amazing game reader, with an amazing sharp head on his shoulder, Auka naturally fitted the bill of a typical Mean Machine fly half and he did don the jersey for 3 years. He later moved to Nondescripts RFC to ply his trade and he has stuck there ever since.
Auka captained MM in the year 2000, and was the overall captain of the University of Nairobi sports team to the Inter Varsity games in Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda the same year. Auka is a Director of Pacific Sports Limited. He has served in various capacities within Kenya Rugby Football Union having been the Tournament director of the Bamburi Rugby Super Series for 4 years and he is currently the Logistics Director for Safari Sevens. Auka is also the General Manager of the Kenya Rugby Football Union.

NAME: Antony Onyango aka Tonyango
DESIGNATION: Honorary Secretary
WEIGHT THEN: 70 kgs
WEIGHT NOW: 80 kgs
AGE: 33 years old
Tony turned out as a flanker for Mean Machine R.F.C. He was the club secretary in 2002 and the chairman in 2003. Having opted not to align himself with any other club, he is widely considered Machine for Life. Tony, for lack of a better term, is a rugby activist. His enthusiasm for the politics of rugby in Kenya can only be likened to that of the official opposition. Love him or hate him, Tony’s outspokenness has highlighted areas in the local rugby administration that definitely need review. We can only hope that this activism does not force him into self exile.
Tony now works with Stanbic Bank and is the founder of maboma.com.

NAME: Hilary Odera Itela aka Baba Chris
DESIGNATION: Committee Member
WEIGHT THEN: 95kgs
WEIGHT NOW: 117kgs
AGE: 27 years old
Hilary turned out as a prop for Mean Machine R.F.C from 2000 to 2003. After stints with Harlequins R.F.C and Impala R.F.C, he finally settled at Nondescript R.F.C , which doesn’t say much for his character. Before that however, Hilary was called up to the national under 21 team in 2000, 2001 and 2002, was called to the provisional national squad in 2005 and 2006, and played for Kenya A in 2007.
The high point of his time at Machine was the Kenya Cup semi-final against harlequins; a game in which some mercenaries conspired with Khakame to give him easy tries as well as his maiden tour to Uganda for the 2000 Makere 10’s tournament.
Hilary is currently an Undergraduate Lawyer Lying Badly. His excellent organizational skills make him instrumental in organization major KRFU tournaments.
